Lovers On The Run

Celebrate an early Valentine’s Day with a double bill of action-packed romantic adventures!

Two films for one ticket price!

At the DIE HARD screening last December, I asked the audience if they wanted a romantic Valentine film or an Anti-Valentine film.
To my surprise, the result was emphatically on the side of Anti!
But I couldn’t bring myself to go full-on WAR OF THE ROSES on you all, so instead we have a double bill of intensely romantic, but very violent road movies – LOVERS ON THE RUN!

WILD AT HEART

The evening starts with David Lynch’s Cannes Palme D’Or winner from 1990, starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern.
After breaking parole for self-defensive manslaughter, Sailor Ripley and his girlfriend Lula head down the highway to California while discovering hidden secrets about one another – pursued by hitmen hired by Lula’s psychotic mother.

David Lynch really said “less hating and more loving” with this one.

An epitome of pure kindness trying to struggle in this world full of evil and hatred that also tempting us to lured into the dark side. It’s not hard to fall in love with this one, simply because of the powerful chemistry between Cage & Dern, the fairytale-esque vibe, and the whole theme of love, hate, good, and evil.

TRUE ROMANCE

Tony Scott’s classic Thriller, based on a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino, needs no introduction.

Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette hit career peaks in this intense, action-packed adventure.

With a simply extraordinary cast including Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt and a star-making turn by James Gandolfini, this is arguablythe best Tarantino film that Tarantino didn’t direct.

This show is in association with o-region and supported by BFI Film Audience Network.
